Infant Teething—How to Make it Easy for Your Baby
It is very thrilling for parents to see their baby’s first tooth. They even take pictures and include it in the baby book. This is an important milestone in a child’s development. However, this experience is not at all fine and dandy for your child because he experiences throbbing pains in his gums caused by developing teeth. You cannot prevent it from happening though because it is natural. What you can do is to at least ease the pain that your child is experiencing. Here are some easy tips for you to make it easy for your kid if he is undergoing infant teething.
• Give your little one a teether or anything that he can chew or bite. Infants tend to bit or chew on things if they are teething because they feel irritation on their gums. Make sure that the teether is clean. If your kid is big enough, give him something cold to drink or eat to numb his throbbing gums.
• You can also use numbing treatments such as gels that you can apply on the gum or tablets. These are okay for infants because they are not medicines, only treatments that somehow relieve the ache. It is your responsibility to read the product’s instructions carefully before using it. However, you should still ask a doctor just to make sure if what you are doing is safe, especially if your little angel has a special condition.
• If you do not want to use any forms of treatments, you can apply pressure on your child’s gums or cheek. Wash your fingers thoroughly with water and soap. Gently press your two fingers on the gums or cheeks and move it in a small circular motion to gently massage those areas. This will give temporary to your baby’s aching gums.
• Sing and gently rock your baby to sleep. Talk to him in a soothing tone and voice. Your little angel needs major TLC when he is undergoing infant teething. Do not be cranky or impatient when you cannot get a good night sleep because he wake sup all the time. Remember that he feels worse than you do.
