Causes for Teething in Babies

All babies by the time they are between the ages of 4 months to 1 year old, will start to show teething signs. Teething in babies is not a comfortable and novel experience for them. Their moods would change, and the once gentle little angel in your arms will suddenly cry at various intervals during day and night. They would choose to stay with you wherever you go, and would refuse to step down from the comfort of your arms.

They would demand that you sing them to sleep but would have bouts of wakefulness in the middle of the night. By daytime, babies who slept less during the night, would be more irritable and would require more attention from you. They would really try your patience during this occasion.

Parents like you would often assume that the reason for the mood changes is due to a diaper rash or a heavy diaper, or hunger pangs or stomach pain. However, your baby would not feed or would not continue with his feeding if offered one. He would not even stop being irritable after you wash him and given him a diaper change.

Now, these scenarios would worry parents because of a no end stress. As first time mothers and fathers, you could decide to consult with their doctor and find out what’s wrong with your little baby. This is a good thing to do as you will know first hand how to manage your teething baby from the advice of your pediatrician. You could also ask pertinent questions regarding other symptoms that are often seen when teething in babies occur. You would then understand the physiology behind the teething process and you’d come to appreciate more of this event in your baby’s life.

The next best thing to do is just enjoy the experience as best as you can. You can take pictures of your baby while he is showing that smile with a tiny tooth protruding from his gum surface.
